Yoshihisa Hirakawa (PhD)
I'm an assistant professor at Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences in the University of Tsukuba (Japan). My main research interest is to understand organelle evolution by endosymbioses. I and my colleagues study cell and genome evolution in microorganisms with complex plastids.
I received my B.S and M.S degrees in Biology from Kanazawa University in 2004 and 2006, respectively. I finished my Ph.D in the University of Tsukuba in 2009. After graduating, I did a postdoc in the Keeling lab of the University of British Columbia (Canada) from 2010 to 2012.
